NATO-Partner wütend auf Baerbocks »Verschwörungsphantasie«

Europa keinesfalls im Krieg mit Russland.

Deutschlands Außenministerin Annalena Baerbock steht unter Beschuss anderer NATO-Staaten, nachdem sie erklärt hat, Europa befinde sich »im Krieg mit Russland.«

Weltweit ist in der Zwischenzeit hinlänglich bekannt, dass Baerbocks Verbalausfälle des Öfteren gründlich daneben gehen. Der Spruch, den sie zu Beginn der vergangenen Woche von sich gegeben hat, ist allerding nicht nur komplett daneben, sondern fördert massiv die Gefahr des Ausbruchs eines globalen Krieges. Ihre umstrittene Aussage machte Baerbock nicht etwa im kleinen Kreis ihrer öko-sozialistischen Kriegsbefürworter, sodernwährend einer Debatte im Europarat in Straßburg.

»Wir müssen mehr tun, um die Ukraine zu verteidigen. Ja, wir müssen auch bei Panzern mehr tun. Aber das Wichtigste ist, dass wir es gemeinsam tun und dass wir uns in Europa nicht gegenseitig die Schuld geben, weil wir einen Krieg gegen Russland und nicht gegeneinander führen«, sagte sie.

Baerbock belongs to Germany's ostensible environmental party, Die Grünen. It is a party that has its roots in the peace movement but is now among the most ardent supporters of sending tanks and other heavy weapons to the war in Ukraine.

Strong reactions to the German foreign minister's statement are coming from several quarters: "I've never heard such madness," says Zoran Milanović, president of the NATO country Croatia, about Annalena Baerbock's statement. Milanović promised that his country would "in no way be drawn into a proxy war" between NATO and Russia, Remix News reports. Then, in an ironic tone, the president wished Germany more success this time than in the country's previous attempt to defeat the Soviet Union in World War II.

Milanović has been very critical of the actions of Western powers during the Ukraine war. He has called sanctions against Russia "absurd" and vowed to "never become America's slave." In one of his recent statements, the Croatian president claimed that the tanks sent to Kiev would only prolong the war.

In NATO-affiliated Hungary, Foreign Minister Péter Szijjártó on Thursday condemned Annalena Baerbock's war tactics, saying, "We are not at war with anyone, we do not want to be at war with anyone. We want to stay out of this war and the most important thing for us is the security of Hungary and the Hungarian people."
